A moan escapes her lips as she wiggles on top of me and I realize that I forgot to button up my jeans last night after I tried to jerk off.

“Oh shit,” I hiss when I feel warm skin against my cock.

I glance down to see her nightgown has ridden up since spreading her legs and it’s bunched around her waist.

I trail my hands down her back to her bare ass and move her a little more. I have to grit my teeth when I feel slick heat near the tip of my cock and I know it’s not just my cum.

“Barbara, you’re not wearing any panties,” I scold, and she wiggles on top of me.

“I never sleep in them,” is her only response as the warmth of her pussy lips spreads over the head.

“You need to stop teasing.” The words come out of my mouth, but my actions are saying something else.

Instead of stopping her, I grip her ass tighter and move her lips up and down my length. She’s like a little stick of butter as she moves along my cock and makes it warm and wet.

“I’m close,” she whispers against my chest, but she won’t look up at me as she searches for relief.

“Barbara.” I say her name until finally she looks up and her soft brown eyes meet mine. “If you want to cum, tell me and I’ll take care of you.” I kiss her softly as I slide her up and down. “All you need to do is ask and it’s yours.”

She bites her lip and moans as she nods. “Please.”

Without hesitation, I reach between us and shove my jeans and boxer briefs down the rest of the way so she can have all of me. Her wet heat lies against me and I grab her hips to control her movements.

In long, slow slides, I move her pussy from the base of my cock to the very tip. When she gets to the end I tease her opening, knowing this isn’t something we should be doing. I know even with just this little bit of cum I’m smearing on her pussy she could get pregnant. But with every hot glide to the end of my cock, I push a little deeper into her, silently begging to fuck her and cum in her little cunt.

“Shaw,” she moans and then plants her hands on either side of my head as she sits up.

We both look down between us to where we’re rubbing and I watch my cock disappear between her lips.

“It feels so good when you push in me.” The whine in her voice is as desperate as I am.

“I know, babe, but we need to be careful.” Again I say the words even as I push a little deeper.

“What about if you don’t…you know?” Her cheeks flush as I pull out and rub my shaft on her clit.

  “Cum inside you?”

She nods vigorously while I slide back to her opening and again push in a little more. I can feel the heat of her tight pussy wrap around me and spurts of my cum leak inside.

“Fuck no,” I growl, forcing myself to pull out. “There’s no way I could be in that tight little thing you got down there and not nut.”

“Please.” She arches her back and her breasts spring free of the nightgown. I lean forward eagerly.

I suck each dark bud into my mouth until she’s crying out with need.

“You think I could pull out once I got in there?” I push the tip of my cock into her opening and watch as she tries to take more. “Nah, that pretty pussy is begging for it.”

“It hurts.” I know she’s talking about the need to cum and not what I’m doing to her.

“Don’t you worry. I’ll get my turn in there. But I’ll take care of you for now.”

I grab the base of my cock and start jacking it off as I rub the head of my cock over her clit. She cries out, her body tensing when the heat of my cum coats her. Without thinking it through, I slide back the tip just a little and shoot some cum inside of her. Then I use my fingers to push more into her. God, I’m an asshole, but I want my cum in her, need it in her.

I want her to walk around with her pussy covered in me and I want her to see it on her panties every time she goes to the bathroom. I want her to remember that I was inside her and that maybe, just maybe, she could be pregnant.

Dark thoughts of using that as an excuse to let me inside her later begin to stir. If she thinks she’s already pregnant, then why deny me bare? I could nut in her all night long on the pretense that she let me do it once.

“Oh god, I didn’t think I could feel that good.” She collapses onto my chest with my hard cock still wedged between us.

“Just wait until I can take my time and taste you.” I rub my finger over her pussy and then bring it to my lips. “Damn, you even taste buttery.”

“What?” She looks up with her eyes half closed and red cheeks.

“Nothing, babe, you just taste real damn good.” I kiss her gently and stroke her back. “I just can’t wait to do that again.”

“How long do we have to wait?” She perks up and I smile at her.

“I’m ready to go again right now, but we need to see about securing your shop.”

“Damn.” She pouts as she falls back onto my chest.

I laugh as I wrap her up and kiss the top of her head again.

“Later when I have you all to myself. Then we’ll do this again.”

“Deal,” she says, wiggling on top of me.

I might be a bastard for planning this out, but I want her and I won’t let anything get in my way.

  Chapter Seven

  Barbie

I can’t stop smiling. My face is going to hurt by the end of the day at this rate. I’m on a cloud with no plans of ever coming down. Shaw is turning out to be sexier than any book I’ve ever read. I don’t know who said that romance books could distort your idea of what a relationship is like because Shaw is knocking them all out of the park. I can't get more real than having Shaw between my thighs bringing me pleasure unlike anything I’ve ever known.

  “Don’t step on me!”

I scream as I jump back and drop the books in my hand. My heart pounds and I think for a second it stopped beating. “You scared the crap out of me,” I tell Kayla as I let out a breath and bend down to pick up my books and make sure they’re okay. I don’t know how I’ve managed to not damage any in the last twenty-four hours. “What are you doing ducked under my desk?”

I look toward the front door and realize I didn't hear the bell go off. I think it might be broken. Shaw fixed the lock on the back door and now it engages on its own when it’s closed. It’s nice to not have to worry about locking it.

“I’m hiding.” She glances at me as if to say isn't that obvious? Kayla does the weirdest stuff sometimes so this shouldn't shock me.

“Have you ever hidden from anything in your life?”

She looks up, thinking about it. “Nope.” Turning on her knees, she peeks over the top of my desk. “I think it’s clear.” She jumps up and sits on my desk.

“So I hear the big hot guy was seen leaving your place this morning.” Oh my god, this town loves to gossip. “I also heard that you were busted getting it on with him in your store.”

Kill me now. Never mind, don’t. There are so many things I want to do with Shaw before I die. I’m not going anywhere and as I move, I can still feel his release between my legs.

“Don’t change the subject. Why are you hiding?”

Kayla swings her legs back and forth. “Should I get us some lunch?”

“And go out there to be spotted by whoever you’re hiding from?”

“Good point. I’ll watch the store and you get us lunch.”

Romeo jumps up for his petting from Kayla.

“I’ll get us food if you tell me who you’re hiding from.” I give her a look that says if everyone can know about my life, surely I can know about my best friend’s.

“Just someone back in town. I’m avoiding him.”

“Who?” I push, because her evasiveness on the subject is only making me more curious.

“What are you, the police?” She purses her lips together.

“I met the police here. I think they gossip, so yes, I guess I am the police.” How else did everyone know my business around he
re? I guess it could have been Missy.

“Touché.” Kayla hops down off the desk. “I really don’t want to talk about it.”

For the first time ever Kayla looks defeated so I let it go. I’m not going to push if she’s not ready. I wonder if it’s the same someone who broke her heart that she never talks about.

“Strawberry shake?” I offer, knowing those always make her happy. How could they not?

“You’re the best.” I grab my purse from behind the desk. “This doesn't mean we aren't talking about Shaw when you get back here.” She wiggles her eyebrows and a small smile forms on her lips. I know I’m going to have to cave if it perks her up. “I did some digging and found some stuff about him.”

“I’ll hurry back then.” I head out, stopping at the front door to check on the bell. I open the door a few times and nothing sounds. The bell is still there but it’s not ringing. I smile because I know if I grab a new one from the hardware store Shaw will put it in for me. He said he was coming back later, that he needs to check in on his mom and answer some work emails and calls.

I head out of the bookstore toward the diner that sits at the end of the road. I’m not in a giant hurry like I told Kayla, but I really don’t think she knows anything about Shaw that I don’t. We spent hours talking last night. I didn't know you could learn so much about someone so quickly, but I felt like I’d known him for years. He put me at ease and I found myself easily opening up to him.

Not only that, he brings out a side of me that’s deep down inside. One that I thought I’d only have in my fantasies when I lay in bed and thought about what sex would be like. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to ask for the things I want. Last night and this morning with Shaw, he knew what I wanted before I did. Sleeping in bed without him was hard. I tossed and turned all night wondering why he’d turn down sharing a bed with me. I knew it was a small bed and he was a big guy, but we could have made it work.

It had put a small amount of doubt in my mind that I’d misread some of our night. Then when I walked out this morning he washed all the doubt away. He’d been right when he said I was teasing him because I needed more. When I finally asked, he gave it to me without hesitation, and not only that, he made me feel sexy and powerful too.

“Hey, Barbie,” Larry calls to me as I walk in front of his barber shop. I could be wrong but it looked like he winked at me. Maybe he just had something in his eye. I stop at his open door, unsure of what to say.

“Ah. Hi?” It comes out like a question because Larry has never once said hi to me. I thought he was Team Missy because I thought I once saw him sneaking into the back of her shop.

“You know we cut women's hair too?”

I grab a lock of my hair and look at the ends. “I think I’m good.” I let my hair go and keep on walking, but when I look back I notice he’s watching me.

I think I must be paranoid about the broken lock because suddenly I’m feeling suspicious of everyone. I speed up anyway until I make it to the diner, which just so happens to be as busy as ever.

“Barbie!” Amelia calls my name as I enter.

I sneak off to the side and give her my order along with a book I have for her in my purse. The only tip she’ll take from me is in the form of a book and I’m more than happy to oblige. I love the friendships I’m forming with some of the women in town over our shared love of romance. It gives me hope that other people's judgments will fade over time.

She takes my order and gives it to one of the cooks. She goes around and checks on her tables before she comes right back over toward me. I guess you can get away with that when you and your husband own the place.

“I heard that you were kissing that guy Shaw.” I turn red because a few people turn and look our way. “Come on, spill it.” She pokes my hip.

“How do you know about that? Was it Missy?” She’s becoming a real pain.

“Like I’d listen to anything she has to say.” Amelia rolls her eyes. “A few of the local cops were here this morning.” Now it’s me that rolls my eyes. “Don’t get mad. Once you get to know more people around here, you’ll enjoy the small-town shenanigans.” She might be right. I think it’s because I still feel like an outsider.

“Yes, I’m seeing Shaw,” I admit. She can spread that around all she wants.

“You just killed a few dreams around town.” She lets out a long sigh as if she was harboring some of her own.

“I’m going to tell your husband on you.”

She shrugs, not looking worried at all. “Have at it.” Her voice drops. “He fucks me extra hard when he gets jealous.” She laughs before she winks at me.

“Amelia, get your fine ass over here.” We both look to her husband, who is pushing my to-go boxes out the window. I can tell from the look in his eyes he probably heard everything. My face warms more, wondering who else might have heard. Amelia grabs the to-go boxes and puts them into a bag before bringing them over to me along with Kayla’s shake.

“I better get back to it before they burn this place down.” She pulls out her pad to take more orders. With not many places to eat in town, they’re always busy. I wave goodbye before heading back toward my shop. My mind drifts to Shaw and what he might be up to. I wonder if he told his mom about me because they seem close.

I pull out my phone to check and see if he’s sent a text, but there’s nothing.

What’s the text protocol when you first start dating someone? In the books I’ve read the hero would have put a tracker on my phone already. In reality, that should be scary but I find myself disappointed that I don’t have a single text from him. I put my phone away, stealing a sip of Kayla’s shake. He’s busy and he’ll probably be by later. I tell myself this and wonder if I can make it that long before I start to let doubt creep back in.

  Chapter Eight

  Shaw

“Who is she?” my mother asks as I place the bag of books on her bedside table.

I sigh, sitting in the chair that’s beside her bed and stretching my legs out. I don’t respond but raise an eyebrow at her and we both know I’m not going to tell.

“You know, you used to tell me all your secrets,” she huffs, like she’s offended.

  “I was four.”

“I liked you more then.” She crosses her arms over her chest and looks away from me, but I see the smile pull at her lips.

  “Her name is Barbara.”

She gasps and whips around to look at me with wide eyes. “The woman that owns the bookstore? Do you think you can get me a discount?”

  “You’re shameless, you know that?”

She shrugs as one of her nurses comes in to check her vitals and lay out her meds. We make small talk in the meantime and they go over her stats.

My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer two years ago. It was sudden and rapid, but she’s a fighter. Luckily they found it early, but going through the treatments made her weak. She’s been slowly building back strength and some days I think she’s back to her old self. Today is a physical therapy day, and although she likes to flirt with her instructor, she’s getting there little by little.

“You ready to stretch those legs, Mrs. Cora?” Dwayne asks.

“You know if you want in my pants you could be a little more subtle,” she coos as she moves to the edge of the bed.

“Mom,” I scold but she just ignores me.

“Kids really put a damper on your sex like. I really should have thought about that sooner.”

  “Mom!”

“I’m kidding.” She looks at me and then winks. “Kind of.”

I watch her and Dwayne go through their normal workout and I see the progress she’s made. She might be older, but my mom is far from down for the count.

Ignoring her fresh comments to the male nurse, I think about what Barbie might be up to. I had to leave her earlier to finish up a few things on a job site and then come by and check on Mom. I’ve been living in this house since I moved back home to be with her, but now I’m thinking
I should have gotten my own place.

Being able to stay at Barbie’s place was nice. I like that it smelled like her. My thoughts wander to what she’s doing and what she’s thinking about. Is she thinking about us and last night as much as I am?

I pull out my phone and fire off a quick text just telling her I can’t stop thinking about her and I’ll be by later to take her to dinner. A real date this time.

When I don’t get a response back right away I try not to worry and put my phone away. She’s probably busy at the shop, and then I worry if she’s eaten today. We didn’t have time for breakfast before she had to open the store and I had to be on the job site. Maybe I could swing by the store and bring her a snack before dinner. Would that be coming on too strong? Fuck, I already practically came in her pussy, is bringing her a snack really too far?

“Dwayne, if you’re going to give me a workout like that and make me hot and sweaty, at least bring cigarettes for afterwards.”

“Mother!” My tone is warning her but she just waves her hand like she’s batting away my disapproval.

“Just ignore him, Dwayne, he’s in love.”

“Oh really? Is that true, Mr. Shaw?” Dwayne asks as he helps my mother over to her sitting chair by the window where she likes to read in the afternoons.

I blink a few times before I answer and my mother turns her eyes on me. There’s a knowing look there and she’s daring me to disagree. I open my mouth to speak and then close it again. What the hell am I feeling?

“The poor boy doesn’t even know it yet.” She winks at me as she settles into her seat. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell.”

We say goodbye to Dwayne and when he leaves us alone, my mom grabs one of the new books I brought her and opens it in her lap.

“What exactly did you mean by that last comment?” I push.

“Which one? The one where I told Dwayne to rest up for our next session so he didn’t tire so quickly?” I growl and she giggles. God, she loves tormenting me. “Calm down.”
